The eNTERFACE’08 committee now invites candidate participants to apply for a summer workshop on multimodal interfaces, to be held in Orsay, France, from August 4th to August 29th, 2008. eNTERFACE’08 will welcome 50 students, researchers, and seniors, working in teams on the following projects (selected from the proposals we have received in a previous Call for Projects.
We are very happy to invite at LIMSI researchers in Multimodal Interfaces worldwide to the eNTERFACE08 workshop, the next of a series of successful workshops initiated by SIMILAR, the European Network of Excellence (NoE) on Multimodal interfaces. eNTERFACE’08 will follow the fruitful path opened by eNTERFACE’05 in Mons, Belgium, and continued by eNTERFACE’06 in Dubrovnik, Croatia and eNTERFACE’07 Istanbul, Turkey. SIMILAR came to an end in 2007, and the eNTERFACE workshops are now under the aegis of the OpenInterface Foundation.
The eNTERFACE summer workshops are a new type of European workshops devoted to research on multimodal interfaces. They aim at establishing a tradition of collaborative, localized R&D work by gathering in a single place a group of senior project leaders, researchers, and (undergraduate) students, working together on a pre-specified list of challenges. Participants are organized in teams, attached to specific projects working on modular software.
eNTERFACE workshops will be supported by the OpenInterface Foundation (http://www.openinterface.org/foundation/), the European non-profit organization created by the SIMILAR Network of Excellence funded by the European Commission in FP6 with the mission to coordinate, expand and integrate activities of its members in the field of multimodal interface research.
